Four individuals narrowly escaped death following a serious accident that occurred along Goodluck Avenue, Egbelu in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday, July 21, 2025, at about 5:30 PM.
The accident that involved a 2008 Lexus ES330, was reportedly driven by a man identified as Mr. Chiboi, who was traveling from Nbeleku to Goodluck Avenue at high speed.
According to eyewitnesses, in an attempt to avoid colliding with another vehicle, Mr. Chiboi lost control and struck three children before crashing into a fenced wall.
Miraculously, all those involved, including the driver and the children, escaped with no major or minor injuries.
However, the vehicle was extensively damaged in the crash.
Speaking after the incident, Mr. Chiboi revealed that his boss had earlier been informed of issues with the car’s brakes.
He said he was on his way to the mechanic when the brakes failed completely, causing him to panic and lose control of the vehicle.
Authorities are investigating the matter, and residents have called for improved vehicle maintenance and stricter traffic oversight to prevent similar occurrences.
