The Delta State Government has embarked on a major initiative to enhance healthcare delivery across the state, beginning with the renovation of 150 Primary Health Centres and the construction of two-bedroom accommodation units, as part of the first phase of work on 441 centres statewide.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, disclosed this during a meeting with Health Fellows on Thursday at his office in Asaba, the state capital.
Dr. Onojaeme emphasized that well-equipped health centres are essential to addressing 80% of health challenges in the state.
The Commissioner commended the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his unwavering commitment to improving the health sector, describing him as a good listener and a detribalized Deltan.

He assured the Health Fellows of the Governor’s continued dedication to healthcare improvement and noted the state’s support for Local Governments with over 200 deployed health workers.
Dr. Onojaeme encouraged the Health Fellows to report any challenges they encounter in the course of their duties directly to the Ministry. He also pledged to organize a meeting between the Fellows and the Executive Secretaries of the 25 LGAs to bridge any communication gaps.
Earlier, Benko Ani, a Health Fellow from Warri South West who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, highlighted some of their challenges, including exclusion from government health activities, and appealed for more training opportunities.
In a vote of thanks, Obanyagbor David expressed appreciation to Dr. Onojaeme and the Delta State Government for the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders in delivering quality healthcare services.
