The Isoko Association Dallas/Forth Worth, United States of America on Monday this week presented School Chairs/Desks worth over Seventeen Million Naira to Akiewhe Secondary School, Oria-Ovo and Ibakpa Primary Schools, Ofagbe all in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Presenting the customized furniture to the benefiting schools, the President of the Association, Mr. Moses Ovuworie stated that, “Education is the light that guides a nation towards progress and that it is the foundation upon which communities grow, leaders are formed and future is built”.
The President who was represented at the occasion by Comrade Emmanuel Ekebe, former President General of Uzere Community emphasized that “Every classroom holds the dreams of tomorrow and every pupil sitting in that classroom carries the potential to shape the future of our society”.
Mr. Ovuworie stated further that the “Isoko Association of DFW strongly believes that when we invest in education, we invest in the future of our people, to demonstrate our commitment to the growth, development and success of the schools”.
“These chairs and desks represent more than wood and metal. They represent opportunity, support, and our belief that every pupil deserves a comfortable and dignified place to learn”.
He reiterated that, “The desks and chairs are a symbol of trust and hope. They represent the belief that within these schools, there are future teachers, doctors, engineers, leaders, and innovators”.
Mr. Ovuworie commended the dedication and tireless efforts of the schools heads, teachers and staff in guiding and shaping the minds of the young learners.
He then urged the schools to make good use of the chairs/desks donated to them, and charged the pupils and students to study hard, remain disciplined, respect their teachers, and never stop believing in themselves.
He thanked the communities for their support for education, stating that “progress becomes possible when communities unite with common purpose”.
Responding, the Principal of Akiewhe Secondary School, Akiewhe-Owhe, Mr. Obukemu Dozen Obuke and the President-General of Akiewhe-Owhe stated that ; “The thoughtful contribution will greatly enhance the learning environment of our students. The provision of these seats will not only improve classroom comfort but will also promote better concentration and participation during lessons”.
They both expressed profound gratitude to the Isoko Association of DFW for their generosity for the donation of 100 chairs/desks to the school.
On their part, Mr. Ichakor Ogwara, chairman Ofagbe Community who represented the Community President- General, Engr. Cyril Jeke, the Headmaster of Oria-Ovo Primary School, Mr. Oba Silvernus and Mrs. Omedo Regina, the Headmistress of Ibakpa Primary School, Ofagbe all commended the Isoko Association of DFW for their kind gestures towards the schools; praying that God Almighty should bless them to do more for the schools that received 50 chairs/desks each.
Dignitaries that witnessed the presentation include; Odio Jones Agbaka, MD, Jones Agbaka Limited that constructed the furniture, some executive members of both Akiewhe-Owhe and Ofagbe communities. Others are some staff of Isoko North Local Government Area, Education Authority, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers Isoko North Chapter, Comrade Uje Wilfred and a cross section of community leaders amongst others.
