INPLM Advocates for More Wards in  Ozoro Kingdom, a New Constituency in Isoko North LGA

Isoko-Nation Progressive Like-Minds (INPLM), under the leadership of Comrade Ilaya Efemena Beckly, has called on community leaders, stakeholders, and political leaders to take proactive steps in strengthening political representation in Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State.

The group urges them to formally submit a request to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the creation of more wards in Ozoro Kingdom and a new state constituency in Isoko North LGA.

THE NEED FOR MORE WARDS IN OZORO KINGDOM

Ozoro Kingdom, as the administrative headquarters of Isoko North, has experienced significant population growth and socio-political expansion.
Isoko-nation progressive Like-Minds (INPLM) argues that the existing wards are no longer sufficient to effectively cater to the political and developmental needs of the kingdom.
The key reasons for requesting additional wards include:

1. More wards will ensure better grass roots representation of the people at the local government level.
2. Creating additional wards will allow more residents to participate in decision-making processes.
3. It will help in fairer allocation of government resources and development projects.

THE CASE FOR A NEW CONSTITUENCY IN ISOKO NORTH LGA
In addition to the demand for more wards in Ozoro, Isoko-nation progressive Like-Minds (INPLM) is also pushing for the creation of a new state constituency in Isoko North.
The Group highlights several reasons why this is necessary:

1. Population Increase- The current constituency structure does not adequately represent the growing number of residents.
2. More Effective Governance – A new constituency will ensure a better spread of government attention and resources.
3. Balanced Political Representation– It will provide a fairer and more equitable representation of Isoko North communities in the Delta State House of Assembly.

Comrade Ilaya Efemena Beckly, speaking on behalf of Isoko-nation progressive Like-Minds (INPLM), urges House Of Assembly Member representing isoko north constituency, Traditional rulers, Community leaders, Youth groups, and Political stakeholders to come together and formally submit a proposal to INEC.
He emphasized that:

1. A well-documented request should be prepared, detailing the demographic and political justifications for these changes.
2. Engagement with lawmakers at both the state and federal levels is necessary to push for legislative approval.
3. Public awareness and mobilization should be intensified to rally support for the initiative.
INPLM remains committed to ensuring better political representation and governance for the people of Isoko North. The group will continue to work with relevant authorities to advocate for the creation of more wards in Ozoro Kingdom and the establishment of a new constituency in isoko North Local government Area of Delta State.
The demand for additional wards in Ozoro and a new constituency in Isoko North is a necessary step towards fairer representation, effective governance, and sustainable development.

Why Delta State Govt Must Shun Policies of Victimization To Promote Inclusiveness In Governance

By Emeka Nwokocha

Truly, and deeply in my heart, l love Delta State. I am a staunch proponent of a better Delta State and hoping that, in the coming years, the state would be the envy of other states in Nigeria, as she takes pride in her sprawling modern infrastructure, unprecedented economic growth, top-notch technological advancement and improved living standard of her citizens and residents of the state.

But, I must be fair and firm this time to say that many things are seriously going wrong in the state, most especially, since the rebirth of our democracy in 1999.

Regrettably, these plenty wrongs are rarely talked about, and they are getting worse by the day and stalling the progress of the state.

Commendably, Delta State is prided as one of the most educated states in Nigeria, a laudable feat indeed, meaning that by default high level of civilization ought to be seen, felt and reflected in the governance process of the state, especially in the areas of implementation of policies, execution of projects and other operations of the government.

Painfully, the governance system of the state is overtly laced with vexing policies of victimization that have since become a cherished standard in the administration of the affairs of the state.

Amidst governor Oborevwori’s strides to etch his legacy in good governance of the state, it is hurting to see skewed policies being implemented by Delta State Government, apparently to hurt a section of her citizens and deny them dividend of democracy, simply because they belong to opposition parties.

Regrettably, this humiliating kind of policies are vigorously being pursued by the government of the day and its lieutenants to firmly ensure that persons, communities and towns branded as support base of the opposition parties are severely relegated and punished as best as possible, at least, to teach them a bitter lesson for pitching tents with the opposition parties.

This animosity, no doubts, has done too much harm to the psyche of the community of Deltans who constantly endure these phases of condemnable humiliation being meted out to them by their government for no justifiable reason.

There is no gainsaying the fact that collective efforts of the citizens matched with sincere policies from the government of the day are the essential fundamental resources needed to drive a progressive Delta State.

Surprisingly, as the government of Delta State strives to scale up socioeconomic development of the state, one wonders why this obnoxious policy of victimization should not be totally abolished and thrown into dark abyss, to allow “fresh air” of unity and love envelope the entire state and foster progress.

Recall that while in desperate desire for a progressive state, good spirited Deltans have longed for a change of attitude among the privileged few that run the affairs of the state, knowing that no state under the sun would develop and meet the needs of her citizens if hatred, rancour, anger, victimization, and marginalization are elevated and adopted as the standard of governance.

It is pertinent to say that the reasons the governments of Delta State had not done much in the development of the state and meeting the basic needs of her citizens may not be unconnected with the governments’ inclination to punitive policies as a substance of governance, apparently to deny persons affiliated to opposition parties the dividend of democracy.

Research has shown that human knowledge and understanding would always fail man if the directives of God are not followed through.

To put it differently, if man wholly relies on his knowledge and understanding to run the affairs of men, rather than listening to God and following His counsel, he is sure to make devastating mistakes that will forever hurt him and the people he leads.

In a nutshell, Delta State has over the decades been governed by the knowledge and wisdom of men, not much attention had been given to the counsel from God.

Small wonder, the governments would have to contend with plethora of socioeconomic and infrastructural challenges, including lack of basic amenities for the citizens after over 33 years of the creation of the state (August 1991- Date).

This piece is a clarion call to the government of Delta State to shun any policies intended to undermine the interests of Deltans who are affiliated to opposition parties because it violates the tenets of democracy.

Most importantly, the government must ensure that the control of the state’s economy and distribution of dividend of democracy, in terms of allocation of resources, appointments, employments, contracts, projects, and other opportunities are done in such manner as to secure the maximum welfare, freedom and happiness of every Deltan on the basis of social justice and equality of status and opportunity, as enshrined in section 16 (1b) of 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

Suffice it to reiterate that the essence of a democratic government is to harness the material resources of the state and distribute it as best as possible to serve the common good. No section or class, or group should be marginalized at all.

Nature has a way of compensating those that sincerely promote a genuine cause that seeks to improve the wellbeing of the citizens in order to give them a sense of belonging.

A look around the world would confirm the fact that most developed countries unfailingly prioritize the needs of their citizens with utmost sincerity and love for all, as they ensure no one is left behind.

These countries don’t promote antagonistic and divisive policies to hurt a section of their citizens because it would hinder genuine development of their country and make blessings from God stay far off.

In summary, I urge those charting the course of political and socioeconomic development of Delta State to be promoters of unfettered unity among the citizens.

They must be the drivers of unprecedented development that will improve the wellbeing of the citizens.

Anything short of that must be jettisoned and consigned to the dustbin.

Delta State will be much better when sentiment that elevate acrimony and PHD – pull him down, are discarded in its entirety.

The government of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will surely earn the applaud of the good people of Delta State if it pursues policies that would hem the unity of the citizens and prioritize the good of all, irrespective of tribe, political leaning, educational background, religious affiliation, and social class.

I passionately pray for Delta State and look forward to celebrating her success in the coming years.

Let’s make love and social justice the cornerstone of state’s affairs

Delta Procures CT-Scans, Dialysis Machines For Hospitals

...As Oborevwori Inspects Flyover bridges, others in Warri, Effurun

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Thursday, said his administration had ordered for the procurement of eight dialysis machines and CT-Scans for hospitals in the state.

He said Warri Central Hospital would get three Dialysis Machines, Asaba Specialist Hospital, three, and Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara, two.
Governor Oborevwori, who disclosed this after inspecting various projects in Warri and Uvwie Local Government Areas, said the machines would arrive by end of March.
“We have ordered eight dialysis machines, three for Warri Central Hospital, three for Asaba Specialist Hospital, and two for Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara.
“By the grace of God, the CT-Scans are also coming by month end and we have also assured that we will expand their theatre and you can see that they are very happy with the visit even though we didn’t plan to come here.
“But we came here on a project inspection and when I asked them what they wanted, they told me and am going to do it for them with even the internal roads within the hospital.”
On allegations of staff members demanding payments from under-five patients and pregnant women, Governor Oborevwori said the hospital management had denied that but urged the people to make use of the whistleblower line which he personally manages.
“I have discussed with the Chief Medical Director of the Warri Central Hospital and she denied the allegation and this is the first time I am hearing those complaints that patients of zero to five years are still paying bills because it is supposed to be free.
“So, anywhere you find that kind of thing, you send the information to us on our whistle-blower line which I am personally manage.
“I am the one personally managing the whistle-blower line and sometimes I call people on that whistleblower line; so, this is the first time I am hearing that,” the Governor said.
Governor Oborevwori who also inspected flood control projects in the Warri and Effurun areas, including the three flyovers at Enerhen junction, PTI Junction and DSC Roundabout, expressed delight that people were happy with the projects.
He said the projects were addressing traffic challenges hitherto faced by the people even when they were yet to be completed.
According to him, “you can see in all the inspections that were done today; you can see the expressions on their faces; it’s not about whether I have street credibility or not.

“If you have street credibility and you don’t do the right thing, people will not be happy. So, everywhere we went, people were happy seeing projects like these.
“So, you can see that people are happy; even now when we have not completed this job, you see that the traffic is flowing very well and, by the time we finish it, you will see that this issue of traffic gridlock will come to an end.”
On the storm drainage projects, Governor Oborevwori tasked the contractor to complete the phase 2 which is at 75 percent and phase 3 on 35 percent completion, respectively.
The Governor also inspected ongoing reconstruction of Orerokpe – Okuloho – Oviri-Okpe road and storm water drainage at Ugolo – Okpe Junction in Okpe Local Government Area.

Outcry, Lamentations as Contractor Renovates School Building with Recycled Roofing Sheets, Constructs Road with Poor Materials

Oleh residents and stakeholders have lamented a case of two shoddy contracts execution of school building renovation and road construction at St. Michael College and Mechanic Village all in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State by one Kenubane Limited.

At the commencement of the renovation of the dilapidated classrooms building at St. Michael’s College and Interlocking Road at the Mechanic Village, Oleh, awarded by the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), the contractors have come under heavy criticisms and wide spread condemnation for shoddy and substandard execution of both contracts.
From the secrecy of the owner of the jobs, to the Bill of Quantity (BOQ) of the project, through the details of contractors ,and other information on the project signboards, to implementing projects different from what was scoped, the entire referenced projects of the DESOPADEC were poorly implemented, despite the allegedly huge amount budgeted for it.
A visit to the school by The Isoko Nation investigation team on Sunday February 23, 2025, met with the Sprayer, one Godspower Egbage from Warri, who claimed to have been hired by a friend whom he declined to name the identity, spraying the reclaimed roofing sheets and facial boards.
Attempts to speak with the Principal one Mrs. Onojerame or officials of the school proved abortive. She insisted that she has not gotten clearance from the Chief Inspector of Education to speak to the press. No other member of staff was also willing to offer any information as our reporters were directed to meet with the community leadership and some illustrious sons of the community whom have been alerted of the disheartening development.
However, an anonymous source who spoke with the reporters regretted such poor performance from the son of the community, saying that “the work is bad, I never knew that roofing sheets are patched, recycled and used for a renovation job”.
“I condemn such poor job execution from the son of the soil, using the fund to build his political empire when the huge funds allocated and allegedly released is not commensurate with the job being executed”
The source emphasised that the government and the awarding institution should come down to see the ongoing shoddy jobs been executed with an unprecedented speed by the contractor, possibility to cover up lapses.
When contacted through WhatsApp message, after series of failed visits to his office, the Chief Inspector of Education (CIE) in isoko South Local Government, Mr. Adeda E. E, declined comment, saying in his response to our inquiry that “With reference to your investigation on the renovation work going on at St. Michael College Oleh. You may wish to visit our headquarters Min of Secondary Education Asaba for further details. I was directed to make some enquiries, which I have reported same to the headquarters. Sorry, by Civil Service rules, I am not empowered to speak on such issues, there are some clear issues that I can handle but not this one because my office does not supervise projects. Thanks”
In a chat with the President General of Oleh community, Mr. Believe Unuafe, he said that “the rumours of the Commissioner Representing Isoko Ethnic Nationality at DESOPADEC, Chief Egbo Victor as the contractor is not correct”.
He however stated that “I acknowledge the bad work and had acosted the Commissioner on the bad contract execution and according to him, has ordered that the refurbished roof be replaced”
Findings reveal that the same contractor, Kenubane Limited, handling the St. Michael College, Oleh renovation is the same contractor handling the Mechanic Village interlocking road, Oleh, which is also enmeshed in poor execution complaints.
Speaking to our reporters, the chairman of the Mechanic Village, Mr. Orife George, lamented the poor nature of job execution by the contractor.
He noted the use of dusty sand for filling the road before mounting the interlocking stones, stating that “the work is poorly done, not up to standard in terms of materials and construction regarding inadequate kerbs moulded with inadequate cements”.
He also frown at the skipping of kerbs placements in many portions of the road; use of waste sand from the ongoing Ogbemudia road construction as well as the absence of drainages on both sides of the road.
The Chairman added that he was denied access to the Bill of Quantity for better understanding of the scope of contract, stating that he was challenged by the site engineer, that he was not the one that awarded them the contract.
However, one of the St. Michael College Old students and Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Political Matters, Sir Hon (Chief) Evans Egbo, who spoke to our reporter, condemned the sub standard job being done. He stated further that “I have reached out to the Commissioner representing Isoko Ethnic Nationality in DESOPADEC, Hon. Victor Egbo on the poor job execution, who he quoted to have stated that he has directed the contractor to stop work pending when he will be visiting the site on Monday 10th March, 2025 for on the spot assessment”
Subsequent calls to get across to the Commissioner, Chief Victor Egbo and the Engineer handling the job through their phones several days later after text messages to respond to the plethora of allegations were unanswered and all other efforts as the time of filing this story proved abortive.
Meanwhile, a source close to the Project Inspection Directorate of DESOPADEC, who does not want his name in prints, told The Isoko Nation crew that “what is on ground at both cites are much at variance with the Bill of Quantity of the projects approved”
