In a statement released by his media team, Rep. Ukodhiko described Hon. Tutumor as an exemplary party leader, an astute businessman, and a dedicated party man who served meritoriously as Leader of the Isoko North Legislative Arm and as a former Chairman of PDP, Isoko North Chapter.

“On behalf of my family and the good people of Isoko North and South Federal Constituency, I convey my warmest felicitations to you as you celebrate your birthday today,” Ukodhiko said.

OPINION: Thither the Oleh Federal Medical Centre

By Ekebe Emmanuel

Months back, news came that the Bill for the establishment of the Federal Medical Center ( FMC), Oleh sponsored by the Senator representing the Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel Onowakpo had been passed by the red Chamber.
The joy across the land was thick and infectious. Our people looked forward to getting a federal medical facility in Isoko land as the first reasonable federal presence outside post offices and police stations.
However, several months after, the expectations began to fade and confusion setting in with the deafening silence on why the Bill long passed was not being ascented by PBAT. Yet, we are told the sponsor of the Bill is close to the Villa.
The people are now left groping in the fertile realm of speculation whether they have once again been scammed with another ‘political double wonder’.
The fears and disdain were further escalated when the FMC, Udu whose Bill was passed almost at the same time with that of Oleh was being given accelerated push. The Udu FMC has already secured its take off base at the Otor-Udu General Hospital with the Delta state House of Assembly endorsing the necessary legislative processes for the take over. In effect, the Udu FMC is making very steady progress without any information why that of Oleh is in limbo.
Whatever the encumbrances or challenges hindering the speedy actualization of the Oleh FMC, Senator Onowakpo should now redouble his efforts because like our elders will say ” a pond not properly fitted, is just a shallow collection of water” That’s to say that a task not completed , invariably defeats the purpose.
The Isoko people’s appetite has been awaken seriously apart from the reasons earlier abduced. An operational FMC in Oleh will not only bring better health care closer to the people but will also serve far beyond Isoko land or Delta South Senatorial District including neighboring communities in Ndokwa areas and even nearby Bayelsa state settlements that do patronize the underfunded but strategic Uzere Cottage Hospital.
In addition,2027 is around the corner and if anything, a functional FMC in Oleh will be a landmark testimony for Onowakpo to add wind in driving his second tenure bid .
Further more, Isoko as major oil and gas producing ethnic nationality that has been exposed to the hazards of oil exploration over the years deserves a befitting FMC to ameliorate their medical needs with minimal effort.
Time is of essence and the Isoko people demand results not tales. So let visible and concrete actions be brought to bear so that the Oleh FMC becomes a reality. Otherwise, we will be left to believe that he that is peeling the yam for the blind but not whistling is possibly gulping the yam down his throat while the real owner of the yam is hungrily salivating.

GAS TURBINE PROJECT: Together, We Can Light Up Isoko Nation-INPLM

A Pan Isoko Political pressure group, Isoko-Nation Progressive Like-Minds (INPLM) has made a passionate appeal to the traditional rulers, Presidents-General, political leaders, community stakeholders, and influential businessmen across Isoko Nation to convene a high-level stakeholders’ meeting aimed at charting a clear path toward the realization of the Gas Turbine Project that will power Isoko land.

In a statement made available to the press, by the President and Founder of INPLM Comrade Ilaya Efemena Beckly emphasized that Isoko Nation stands at a critical point in its history where collective responsibility and unity of purpose have become essential for progress.

He noted that while Isoko has produced men and women of remarkable influence, wealth, and intellect, the region continues to suffer from infrastructural neglect, especially in the area of electricity, a fundamental pillar of industrial and economic development.

According to him, the Gas Turbine Project, if properly revisited and implemented through a united front, has the capacity to transform the economic landscape of Isoko Nation, attract industries, stimulate business growth, and create thousands of job opportunities for Isoko youths.

“It will not be a bad idea if our highly respected Kings, in conjunction with the Presidents-General, call for a joint meeting of stakeholders, community leaders, political figures, and business elites across Isoko Nation to chart a way forward,” Comrade Beckly stated.

“Such a forum would provide an avenue to deliberate sincerely on how to collectively achieve the Gas Turbine Project that will bring lasting electricity and development to our people.”

He further explained that while the government plays a major role in development, true progress often begins with the people themselves, through vision, cooperation, and coordinated effort.

Comr. Beckly urged all Isoko sons and daughters in positions of influence to set aside personal interests and political differences in pursuit of a common agenda for sustainable development.

“We have men of substance, business moguls, and respected leaders who can make this dream a reality. The time has come for us to move beyond rhetoric and take deliberate action that will light up our communities and power the future of Isoko,” he added.

The INPLM Founder and President, Comrade Beckly stressed that power remains the key driver of industrialization, and the success of the Gas Turbine Project would not only strengthen the local economy but also position Isoko as a major contributor to Delta State’s economic growth and the Niger Delta region at large.

He also highlighted that INPLM, as a progressive platform for unity and development, will continue to advocate for initiatives that promote infrastructure, youth empowerment, and socioeconomic advancement across Isoko Nation.

He called for immediate collaboration between the traditional institutions, the Isoko Development Union (IDU), Presidents- General of all communities, and private sector players to form a strong coalition that can drive the vision to completion.

“Our appeal is simple — let us come together as one family, one people, and one vision. Let us turn our collective influence into sustainable impact. The Gas Turbine Project is not just about electricity; it is about the economic freedom and dignity of the Isoko people,” Beckly concluded.

He however also stated that Isoko-Nation Progressive Like-Minds (INPLM) remains steadfast in its mission to promote unity, progress, and development within the Isoko Nation and reaffirms its commitment to supporting all initiatives that will bring lasting growth and transformation to the land.

AYF WEEK: You Need to Solely Depend on God to Survive – Revd. Oboduze

By Marvis Osiobe-Eterigho

The Vicar of the Church of Resurrection, Anglican Communion, Rev O.G. Oboduze has charged christians to solely depend on God for survival as there is no other alternative source anywhere.

This charge was made on the second day of the Anglican Youth Fellowship Week held at the church auditorium last Tuesday in Ozoro.

He made the declaration while speaking on the theme “My Help Comes From the Lord” with the text taken from Psalms 121:1-2.

He explained that many of our youths today are running else where to seek for help instead of seeking for God’s help.

“Dear people of God, I assure you that the help we need is not found anywhere but God. Whatever we need to survive in this generation is in the hands of God. Any help that you seek that does not come from God, will not last”.

The clergyman further stated that survival in difficult times is not determined by our background, connection or resources but by the grace of God.

“Yahoo has taken many youths from God. In this generation where many things are happening, we must hold God strong”.

He cited examples from the Bible, including the story of Joseph who was brought from prison to palace, adding that the same grace is available to believers today.

Rev Oboduze also charged the congregation to be steadfast in prayers and to trust God wholeheartedly because God can never disappoint, adding that “Man may fail you but God will never fail you”.

Highlights of the service were rendering of praises, worship and prayers.

Ozoro Residents Decry Years of Dry Taps as Urban Water Board Remains Inactive

By Favour Atehe

The premises of the Urban Water Board in Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, has been described as semblance of a ghost yard, which facilities have remained grounded for over two years, causing lack of potable water supply to the kingdom and igniting concerns amongst residents.

During a visit to the Water Board’s office on Thursday 2nd of October 2025, an insider source , who requested anonymity, revealed that repeated appeals to the local government for intervention have gone unanswered.

He explained that the facility’s operations collapsed after persistent power challenges.

“The water board is no longer functioning because we do not have electricity or diesel to power the system, and the government has not given us the needed support.

“We have complained several times, yet nothing has been done,” the officer explained.

According to the insider source, power challenge and government indifference crippled the water scheme, while infrastructural damage from construction activities worsened the problem.

“He stated further that contractors handling drainage projects and companies installing 5G network cables had destroyed some of the pipelines, leaving several sections of the water distribution system in disrepair.

“As a result, residents of Ozoro and its environs have been forced to depend heavily on private boreholes, sachet water, and other alternative sources of water.

Residents complaining, also said that “these alternatives are costly, unreliable, and sometimes unsafe, especially for families with low incomes”.

Efforts to reach the Zonal Manager of the Urban Water Board, Engineer Onyia Augustine,  were unsuccessful, but an insider who spoke to our reporters insisted that only immediate government intervention through restoring power supply or diesel, repairing broken pipes, and funding maintenance can bring the scheme back to life.

Gbemre Charges Urhobo Politicians to Scale-Up Infrastructural Development in their Constituencies

By Emeka Nwokocha

A renowned advocate of good governance in Nigeria, Zik Gbemre, has called on Urhobo public office holders to scale up infrastructural development in their constituencies and improve the living standard of the people.

Gbemre made the call recently while lamenting seriously over the deplorable state of Effurun-Sapele-Benin Road.

He said, “Effurun-Sapele-Benin Road which is a federal highway has become the worst federal road in the country.

“It takes a full day journey on vehicle from Effurun to Benin, a distance that should be covered by motorists within one hour”.

Gnemre charged Senator Ede Dafinone, Senator representing Delta Central to expend his energy to deliver dividends of democracy to his constituents and jettison his reelection campaigns.

Gbemre stated that “The only road leading to Ede’s hometown of Sapele is bad,” adding that even Osubi Airstrip in his constituency has also been neglected.

He said “Osubi needs upgrade and expansion of its runway to enable big aircrafts land and take off.”

Gbemre also stated, “Mr. Festus Keyamo, Aviation minister is also a native of Ephron (Effurun) city of Uvwie LG, few kilometers from Osubi Airstrip. Governor Oborevwori is also a native of Osubi Town. Oborevwori, Dafinone and Keyamo prefer to use Asaba Airport to board flights while Osubi Airstrip is unattended to.”

He further stated that, “Keyamo had made many failed promises on Osubi Airstrip Runway expansion/upgrade,” adding that “The Effurun-Osubi-Orerokpe-Eku-Abraka road has collapsed and abandoned,” while in Avwraka (Abraka), the road has completely divided into two at the main town junction.

“This road is a Delta state road and not federal road,” he stated.

Gbemre expressed disappointment at latest trend of caution he had received for speaking truth to power over worrisome developmental challenges that stare the people in the face.

He particularly stated, “When you write, the watchdogs of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will label you a perpetrator of cyber bullying.”

He further stated, “The other day I wrote on Oborevwori’s poor handling of Warri crises and one of his media aides called to tell me that I am committing cyber bullying offence.”

Gbemre noted, “Any administration that is scared of constructive criticism has failed,” saying, “You don’t expect a man of my age to praise public office holders for practically doing nothing. I will continue to advocate for the good of the people no matter who and what is involved.”

He stated also that, “Let them continue with their new language of cyber stalking and cyber bullying. Who is cyber bullying who? Those telling lies about performance without performing are the problems of any administration.”

Adding to the number of bad roads in Delta State, Gbemre said, “The popular Udu-Ughievwem Road is very bad until few days ago that patching of some sections of the road commenced.”

He added, “Udu-Ughievwem Road connecting Warri- Enerhen-Udu-Ughievwen down to NEPA ought to be made a dual carriage way,” saying “The traffic on this road is much. Those going to Bayelsa and Port Harcourt from Udu and Ughelli South ply this route.”

He accused Hon. Francis Waive, who represents the people of Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu federal constituency in the House of Representatives of always praising himself on social media for attracting federal medical centre in Udu, saying, “The project has only a sign post to show for it at the moment.”

Expressing disappointment, Gbemre said, “Waive who is representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu is not bothered, even when there is no good motorable road to his hometown of Obi-Ayagha, he has nicknamed Oborevwori road master.”

OZORO – EROVIE COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE CENTRE: Director Decry Shortage of Manpower, Infrastructures

By Marvis Osiobe-Eterigho

The Director of Nursing Services at the Erovie Community Health Care Centre, Ozoro, Mrs Imafoma Patricia has lamented the shortage of manpower and infrastructure at the Centre, calling on the Isoko North Local Government Council Authority for a better accommodation, equipment and manpower for effective and efficient discharge of their duties.

These lamentations were made last Tuesday in an exclusive interview at the centre with the visibly elated Director amidst congratulatory messages from her subordinates on a reported elevation and transfer from the Centre.

Nurse Patricia pointed out that the present accommodation for the health care centre is a rented apartment and not spacious enough to accommodate all patients.

“This facility is under the Ozoro Ward 02 and basically for Erovie and Etevie quarters. You can see the crowd of people that came. This place is not spacious enough to accommodate every patient, that is why you see some of them waiting outside. We are pleading with the local government so that they can give us a permanent site in order to accommodate our mothers and our children”.

Speaking further, Patricia added that the centre lacks some basic equipment, saying “We need equipment and instruments because there are some we do not have. Like now, we do not have family planning equipment at all. There are some family planning services we are suppose to be rendering but we can not do that because we do not have the equipment”.

She also stated that the centre has shortage of manpower as there are only four workers at the centre, herself inclusive. “I am the only clinical staff here. I have one as HOC staff and two CHEWs”.

She therefore called on the local government authority for quick intervention, advising that “the provision of these equipment and staff will help improve the services they render to the patients”.
