ISOKO PRAISE TO HOLD 12TH DECEMBER 2024

The annual Isoko Praise programme of the Isoko people for the year, has been scheduled to hold on the 12th of December 2024.

The statement signed by the chairman of Isoko Praise Foundation, Evang. Emmanuel Ofano and Secretary, Bishop Ben Eghaire stated that, the praise night event will commence at 9.pm at Isoko Central School (I.C.S) Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to the statement, the programme with  the Theme; “Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord All Ye Land”,  taken from Psalm 100 Verse 1, is for peace,  unity and prosperity of the people in the land and as well as for salvation of souls.

The statement added that the event will feature prominent gospel artists, in the likes of Evang. Emmanuel Ofano, Evang. Elvis Osiota, Evang. Solo Kingsand Lizzy Ofano.

Others that will be featuring include Emma Kings, Ayobor Akegor, Ezisa Obibi from Isoko Nation amongst others across the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.

It added that the Guest Minister will be Archbishop Prof. S. G. A. Onibere, while    intercessory prayers for Isoko Nation will  be conducted by Rt. Revd. John Aruakpor, Archbishop (Barr) Gimbright  Adaigho, and Apostle Thompson Oki.

Others  are Bishop Dr. Ben Eghaire, Primate Moses Ogbodogbo, Bishop Dr. Sam Oyede and Apostle Kingsley Ekpaigho.

The praise night, according to the statement, will also feature the Isoko Christian Association of Nigeria ( I.C.A.N) Women Choir and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria ( PFN) Women Choir.

CURBING MALNUTRITION: Mrs. Ogorugba Distributes Healthy Meal Supplements to Isoko North Children

As part of determined and concerted efforts  aimed at wiping out malnutrition from the land, the wife of the Isoko North Local Government Council chairman, Deaconess Mrs. Veronica Ogorugba has recently commenced the distribution of soya milk and other healthy meal supplements to children in the Local Government Area.

According to the terse statement made available to The Isoko Nation by the Chief Press Secretary to the Local Government Chairman, stated that Mrs. Ogorugba has said that the purpose of the programme was to wipe out malnultrition from the Isoko North land.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony at Council secretariat, according to the statement, Mrs Ogorugba said the presentation was in commemoration of Maternal and New Born Child Week Celebration in the state.

The statement further stated that Mrs. Ogorugba noted that the programme was in collaboration with the First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Mrs Tobore Oborevwori while commending her for the support towards the programme.

Present at the unveiling ceremony were: The Executive chairman of Isoko North,  Elder Prince Godwin Ogorugba, Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon Pascal Emeluaha and Head of Personnel Management, Mrs. Irene Onwodi.

Others in attendance were the Treasurer of the Council, Queen of Ozoro Kingdom, Fejiro Elo Ogbogbo and Mrs. Enifome Patricia, Nutrition Focal person of Isoko North among others

Hon. Ukodhiko Flags Off Empowerment for 200 Constituents, Urges Support for Gov. Oborevwori …As Warri, Oweh Laud Gesture

Member representing Isoko Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, has flagged off a three-day skills acquisition training empowerment for 200 women and youths of the constituency .

According to the House of Representatives member, the 3-Day Practical Session would feature training on skills acquisition and empowerment focusing on the Production and Packaging of Cleansing Products (Liquid, bar, and Detergent); Entrepreneural Skills; Branding and Brand Management; NAFDAC/SON Certification Process; Marketing/Corporate Strategy; and Financial Management.

Hon. Ukodhiko stated, “recall, when I was contesting for the House of Representatives, I promised, I would do a lot of things that would empower my people.

“Today, I’m here in fulfillment of that promise I made, to change the orientation and narrative. I am committed to empowering my people to earn money for themselves.

“I want to charge you all, the beneficiaries, to take the skills acquisitions programme very seriously. Also, be disciplined financially, and be focused. After learning the various skills that you will be taught in the programme, you will be given business grant money to start up your businesses.

“I want to assure you all, soon, there will be more, bigger training and empowerment programmes for more people, that have been lined up and will be rolled out for the benefits of my constituents.

“When these skills programmes are rolled out, I want to enjoin you all to take advantage of them as they would be beneficial.

“As you patiently grow your businesses, reach out to people who can assist you more. As your Federal representative at Abuja, I will be able to facilitate loans from federal financial services and institutions for you to finance your businesses.” Hon. Ukodhiko assured .

The Isoko Federal lawmaker seized the opportunity to commend the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his many human capital development and economic programmes that have transformed the lives of many women and youths of Isoko-nation.

Hon. Ukodhiko called on the people of Isoko to support Governor Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said, “you will agree with me, our son-in-law and amiable Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has executed many road projects in Isoko running into billions.

“Recently, he approved the establishment of College of Health Technology in Ovrode, of which, the building of the school has started. More recently was the approval of the College of Health Sciences at the Southern Delta University, Ozoro.

“There is the completion of the phase one of the Emevor-Orogun Road and ongoing Phase 2 of the road; the construction of the Uzere-Asaba-Ase Road and bridges; Olomoro-Igbide road, not forgetting the construction of the Isoko section of the Ughelli-Asaba Expressway and other roads connecting our communities in Isoko.

“So, for these people-oriented projects and programmes done and more, we must return to our various homes and wards from here, go out and mobilise our people to vote massively for our performing Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori come 2027 in order for him to do more.” Hon. Ukodhiko said.

In their goodwill messages, the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area Council, Hon. Warri Ovoke Friday and the Chairman, Delta State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Paul Oweh commended Hon. Ukodhiko for the skills acquisitions and empowerment programme.

Hon. Warri stated, the skills and acquisition training empowerment was a kind gesture, saying that not everyone can do it.

He charged the beneficiaries of the programmes to fully utilise the opportunities been offered to be entrepreneurs, and be prudent in their spending of the business money.

Also speaking, Dr. Oweh noted that “this skills training empowerment programmes facilitated by our House of Representatives member, Hon Ukodhiko is much better than to be given little stipends as empowerment that will not sustain you and your homes.”

In his opening remark, the South South Zonal Director, National Board for Technology Incubation, Mr. David Diekedie, praised Hon Ukodhiko for thinking it wise to empower his people, urging the beneficiaries to be focused, undistracted and be consistent with the programme.

Present at the flagging off of ceremony held at the Constituency office of the House of Representatives member were the Chairman, PDP, Isoko North Chapter, Hon. Bernard Idisi, leader of Isoko South Legislative Arm, Hon. Bright Olokor among others.

Oborevwori’s Media Aide, Egware, Joins NISMA as Distinguished Fellow

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State on Media, Mr. Nelson Egware, has been admitted into the Nigerian Institute of Social Media Analysts, NISMA, as Distinguished Fellow.

NISMA, a member of the International Association of Social Media Analysts, is the foremost professional body committed to advancing the standards and practice of Social Media in Nigeria, was established for the training, certification and ethical practice in Social Media Management.

The Institute plays a pivotal role in creating a structured approach to harnessing the power of Social Media while promoting professionalism, accountability and innovation.

Egware was inducted alongside other distinguished fellows at the 3rd induction/inaugural ceremony of new members of NISMA, held at the Nigeria Police School of Public Relations, Abuja, on Thursday.

The induction followed a two-day rigorous Mandatory Educational Training and Development (METAD) on Advanced Analytics of Social Media Platforms; Social Media Psychology and Consumer Behaviour; Content Development and Management; Fake News Identification and Management; AI in a Virtual Society; Practical Application of AI in Private and Public sectors; Fact Checking and Social Media Professional Ethics and Best Practice.

Keynote Speech at the ceremony with Theme: Navigating the Future: The Crucial Role of AI in the Virtual Society, was delivered by Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South Senatorial District in the Senate.

In his address, President of the Nigerian Institute of Social Media Analysts, DIG Frank Mba, represented by Provost of the Nigeria Police School of Public Relations, Retd CP Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu congratulated the inductees on their admission to the institute and urged them to champion and sustain ethical Social Media practice in line with the Institute’s corporate governance code.

Egware, who is a seasoned accountant, banker, lecturer and journalist, holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Master in Banking and Finance, Master in Business Administration from the Delta State University Abraka and a Master of Science Degree in Accounting and currently pursuing a PhD in Accounting at the University of Benin.

He is a Fellow and Council Member of the Society For West African Internal Audit Practitioners, SWAIAP, Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN).

Egware also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, IIJ, in conjunction with the University of Maiduguri.

A Reuters and Meta certified digital journalist, Egware is a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a certified fact-checker from the West Africa Broadcast and Media Academy,  WABMA.

He is Publisher and Editor in Chief of Truth Reporters and a former Editor of the Veracity Magazine, a quarterly publication of the Delta State Ministry of Information and Deputy Editor of Delta Revealed, a weekly newspaper publication of the Delta State Government New Media Office.

Egware, prolific Google scholar with over 15 academic scholarly articles has 21 citations with 2 in h-index and 1 in i10-index, with numerous feature articles published in National Newspapers and the Social Media.

Also inducted as Associate Members were Daniel Bayagbon and Christopher Odamah who are both Special Assistants to Governor Oborevwori on New Media.

ASAGBA, DELSU VC PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO IROGBO

The new Vice Chancellor of the Delta State University, Abraka, Prof.Samuel Asagba, has last Sunday paid a condolence visit to Dr. Prosper Irogbo and his family on the death of their mother, Mrs. Eunice Irogbo.

Speaking during the visit at Dr. Irogbo’s country home at Uzere, Isoko South Local Government Area, Prof. Asagba said the loss of a mother is usually painful, no matter the age but that as humans and Christians, we are enjoined to submit to the will of God at all times.

He urged the family to take heart and remain united as they plan towards the final burial rites for the late septuagenarian.
The Vice Chancellor who was accompanied on the visit by the Dean of Faculty of Sciences, DELSU, Prof. Atunuje also promised to attend the burial slated for the weekend at Uzere.
In his remarks, Dr. Irogbo who is a lecturer, Sociology Department, DELSU and also the first son of the late Mrs. Eunice Irogbo thanked the Vice Chancellor for finding time to visit and commiserate with him and his family, noting that it is a great honour more especially when the VC is just a week old in office.
Also speaking in the same vein, Prof. Ben Owhe- Ureghe of the Department of Microbiology, DELSU and a family friend of the Irogbos appreciated the kind nature of Prof. Asagba whom he described as  “humility personified Vice Chancellor of the premier University of Delta state”.

He then prayed for a successful tenure of the new VC, adding that the new appointment is just the beginning of brighter days ahead.

Irri Monarch Gets Staff of Office

The traditional ruler of Irri Clan in Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, His Royal Majesty Simon Wajutome Odhomo, Igbogidi 1 has been presented his staff of office by the Governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme who represented the state Governor said government has great respect for the traditional institution, because Royal Fathers are not only the custodian of our age long custom and tradition, but also the only unsevered link with our past.

He added that, “it is the realisation of this that informed our avowed commitment to the enhancement of the status of the traditional institution in the state. Since the inception of this administration, government has not relented in his efforts to give the institution all the honour it rightly deserves.”

He admonished the new Irri Monarch to always consult his people in major decisions that affect the Community. He told him to allow the interest of the Community to inform his decisions at all times.

He called on the people of Irri “to accord the Odiologbo the respect and honour that befits his status.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the Isoko South Local Government Council chairman Hon. Friday Warri said that the event is a mark of restoring traditional institution to their pride of place.

He noted that the occasion marks a new dawn in the history of Irri people; pointing out that the Odiologbo reign will mark a period of peace and progress.

Irri Clan, in a speech read by Chief Adonis Ubuwere, appreciated the state Governor for the approval and recognition of their traditional ruler that is being presented a staff of office.

They requested government’s intervention in the completion and commissioning of the Technical College, Irri; completion of Otahe link road, Irri, construction of Irri modern palace; award of a 3km link road from Ikpide-Irri to Kennan-Irri; Street lights for Irri and it’s villages and resurfacing of Ada-Ivrogbo road that is in a very deplorable condition.

The high point of the ceremony was the formal presentation of staff office to the Odiologbo of Irri Clan, HRM Simon Wajutome Odhomo, Igbogidi 1 by the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme.

Present at the occasion, were traditional rulers from neighbouring Isoko communities, delegations from the 14 Irri villages, captains of industries, clergymen, political bigwigs, community leaders from and outside Isoko land amongst others.

A University is a Market Incubator for Knowledge Acquisition – Prof. Esagha

The Vice Chancellor of Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, Prof. Jacob Snap Oboreh, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Academics, Prof Esagha has professed that a University is a city that exist for knowledge, incubate knowledge and a market for knowledge wherein lecturers dispense different commodities of different programmes for students to acquire .
He stated this yesterday at the University New Auditorium while declaring open a Seminar Series Two tagged: “Lecture Delivery and Effective Use of Databases” as part of capacity building efforts of the University, organised by the Faculty of Computing of the University.
The DVC, speaking further noted that the theme of the seminar is apt and encouraged participants to deploy the benefits of the training to their lectures delivery.
In a separate statement, the Chairman of Research and Seminar Committee of the Faculty and Chief Liberian of the institution, Associate Prof. Ugochukwu Emiri, CLN, stated that what informed organizing the programme was to equip the teachers to be better dispensers of knowledge.
He added that it is also part of the university efforts to encourage scholarship, being the second in the series of seminars and to validate or demistify the schools of thought that argue that Teachers are made, not necessarily Born.
Delivering his paper, titled ‘Lecture Delivery’, a trained teacher and an Environmental Management and Toxicology expert, and Director of Centre for Entrepreneurial Education and Development of the university, Dr. Chukwudi Ogwu, stated that teaching is a goal directed activity in imparting knowledge into the unlearn to become knowledgeable, adding that a good teacher must make concerted efforts to understand students, imparts knowledge in diverse methods and avoid utilising sterotypic methods and strategies.
According to him, ” A good teacher is one who is able to explain and demonstrate concepts in a variety of ways for a variety of different learners and learning styles. A good teacher modifies his teaching as the situation demands, clarifying that the lecturing method is the commitment adopted by lecturers in most Nigerian universities especially in Laboratory based courses.”
Speaking further he laid emphasis on basic steps for an effective lecture delivery, stating that lecturers must know their students, understand lecture outline and have a mastery of the topic.
Other steps include to stimulate the students interest through exciting entry behaviour, usage of audible and visual aids.
“A good teacher must be patient, know how to manage time, have empathy, be creative, prepare adequately for lecture and be enthusiastic”.
Dr. Ogwu also stated that for effective lecturing, audibility of the teacher is key as students do not have equally hearing abilities while emphasising that the teacher should take charge of their teaching materials.
He emphasised the virtue of exercising patience with the students as one of the vital parameters for good lecture delivery while emphasising on adequate preparations for lectures by lecturers, and avoidance of wrong concepts, he state

ODIOLOGBO OF IRRI TO RECEIVE STAFF OF OFFICE

The Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon (Elder) Sherriff Oborevwori will on Thursday 5th December, 2024 officially present the Staff of Office to the recently approved traditional ruler of Irri Clan His Royal Majesty Simon Wajutome Odhomo, Igbogidi I.
In a statement issued by the Directorate of Chieftaincy Affairs, Asaba, the event will hold at the Irri Primary School by 10:00am on the fixed date. The statement signed on behalf of the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme by the Permanent Secretary of the Directorate, Mr. Henry Demesi urged the Irri Community and the Chairman, Isoko South Local Government Council to be prepared for the epoch making event.
Meanwhile, the Irri Council of Chiefs has enjoined all Irri sons and daughters, both home and in diaspora to turn out enmass for the event. They also urged the Irri people to disregard some misguided elements who are peddling unfounded information about the existence of a frivolous claimant to the Irri throne.
The Irri Council of Chiefs affirmed that the new Odiologbo of Irri Clan, His Royal Majesty Simon Wajutome Odhomo, Igbogidi I is the authentic monarch who has fulfilled all the traditional and cultural rites in accordance with the extant laws as approved by Government; so, any impostor should be ignored completely.
