Southern Delta University, Ozoro, on Tuesday witnessed another milestone as the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jacob Snapps Oboreh, led members of the University Management Team on a facility inspection tour of the Orereokpe Campus.
The Vice Chancellor in company of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Presly Obukoadata, Registrar, Mrs. Stella Muoboghare, University Librarian, Prof. Ogochukwu Emiri, Bursar, Dr. Sylvester Okoh, Director of Special Duties, Mr. Donald, the VCs PA, and the Ag. Director of Public Relations was conducted round key facilities by the provost of the Orerokpe Campus, Prof. Akpovghaye Taigar, and the management team.
Amongst the key facilities inspected include the Solar Farm recently affected by fire outbreak, ultra-modern lecture halls, the Exams and Records Unit, Campus Clinic, CBT Centre, ICT Centre, among others.
Speaking at the reception held in honour of the Vice Chancellor at the Provost’s Office, Prof. Taigar commended Prof. Oboreh for his exceptional leadership and developmental strides which, according to him, have transformed the campus and ensured smooth administration throughout his tenure.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor appreciated the Provost, Deans, Heads of Departments, and staff for their dedication and commitment to the growth of the institution.
He also thanked the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his continuous support towards infrastructural development and beautification of the campus.
Further to his remarks, Prof. Oboreh appealed to staff to extend maximum cooperation and support to the incoming Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunny Awefiada, whom he described as capable of taking the University to greater heights.
The Vice Chancellor also mentioned that automatic employment has been granted the four students of the University who graduated with First Class grades as Graduate Assistants upon completion of their NYSC programme.
As part of the activities marking the visit, the Vice Chancellor appreciated them for their sacrifices and commitment to the smooth running of academic programmes at the campus.
The event ended with goodwill messages, vote of thanks, and prayers for the continued growth of the University.
