The Executive Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council,Comrade Friday Warri has called for a working synergy and strategic collaboration with the Nigeria Army in the discharge of their duties.
Comrade Warri made the call today in his office at Oleh, while playing host to the Nigeria Army delegation from the Army Headquarters, Abuja on a courtesy visit.
The Council Chairman expressed confidence on the capabilities of the Nigeria Army in combating crimes and other vices in their area of jurisdiction in Isoko South Local Government and the Country at large.
Comrade Friday Warri noted with satisfaction that the establishment of 181Battalion and the creation of this new 246 Recce Battalion in Oleh,the people of Isoko South and her neighbouring Local Governments will sleep with their two eyes closed .
He however, expressed optimism that the certificate of occupancy for the land allocated to the Army would be ready in the next couple of weeks with the engagement he had with the Delta State Commissioner for Land and Survey recently in Asaba.
The Chairman pointed out that “with the establishment of this 246 Battalion, our Critical infrastructure are saved and secured as well as to enhanced peace and security in the area”
Comrade Warri stated the significance of the oil infrastructure and caution that if anything happens to any of the facilities it will affect Isoko South, Delta State and Nigeria in general because Isoko South Local Government produces over 30 percent of the Nation’s oil.
Earlier in his remarks, Brigadier General C Ogbuabo from the Army Headquarters ,Abuja intimated the Council Chairman of his mission to the newly established 246 Recce Battalion in Oleh .
General Ogbuabo stated that his visit was to evaluate the impact of the Nigeria Army in the Local Government Area.
He therefore, seek the collaboration of management of Isoko South Local Government and indigenes to make their work easier.
Brig.Gen.Ogbuabu however,appreciated the Council Chairman for his support and prompt intervention for the Battalion whenever the need arises.
The Brig Gen was accompanied on the visit by the Acting Commander of 246 Battalion Lt Col H A Mohammed , Lt Col S Ana from Army Headquarters and Major U N Adamu also from Army Headquarters.
