The Vice Chancellor of the Southern Delta University (SDU), Ozoro, Ijirhevwe Awhefeada has stated that fostering a supportive and harmonious academic environment remains a top priority for his management team.
He made this assertion last Wednesday September 30, 2026 in his office when the executive body of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the institution, paid him a surprise visit in celebration of his birth anniversary.
The visit which was led by the SUG President, Comrade Oribelua Precious, was accompanied by a saxophonist playing celebratory tunes, rendition of praises and followed by presentation of birthday gifts.
Explaining the rationale behind the unexpected gesture, the SUG President noted that the executive council deemed it imperative to show appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his dedicated leadership and continuous support toward students’ welfare.
Reacting to the visit , Professor Awhefeada expressed profound appreciation to the students representatives for the thoughtful gesture, highlighting the strong bond and mutual respect existing between the university administration and the student body.
Speaking further, the VC noted that part of the university administrators role is to always fulfill a parental role toward students, emphasizing that fostering a supportive and harmonious academic environment remains a top priority for his management team.
Highlights of the visit include taking of group photographs, light entertainment, and a brief interactive session where the students union executives reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively with the university management for the overall progress of the institution.
