PMAN Isoko Zone Marks Independence Day With Music, Cultural Display

The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Isoko Zone, has celebrated Nigeria’s Independence Day with an Isoko Music and Peace Fiesta last Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Ala Square, Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State.

The event, organised as part of activities marking Nigeria’s Independence Day,  brought together musicians, community members to celebrate the country’s independence through music, entertainment and cultural performances.

On the significance of the celebration,   an Isoko renown musical icon, one of the officials, Dr. Arube Otor, leader of Arube Dance Band of Uzere, said, besides the event been organized to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day, it also serve  to provide an opportunity for people to celebrate despite the challenges facing the country.

According to him, Independence Day remains an important occasion that should be celebrated because it marks the country’s attainment of nationhood.

“We are here to celebrate the Independence Day, because, everybody needs to celebrate the Independence Day on this October 1st, even though the Country is presently experiencing economic challenges, we need to Celebrate it”, he said.

Dr. Arube further explained that the event was organised by the PMAN Isoko Zone as part of its annual activities to commemorate Nigeria’s independence on October 1st.

A major highlight of the celebration was the performance of traditional music by masquerades and community members, which showcased aspects of Isoko culture and traditions.
