SMC Alumni Assoc. Holds One Day Orientation for Mgt., Staff, Students to Honour Former Principal, Chief Festus Ubiogoro

The Interim Management Committee members steering the affairs of St. Michael’s College (SMC), Oleh Alumni Association, has organized, in Honour of former Principal, Chief Festus Ubiogoro, a one day orientation for the management, staff and students on the theme ‘Saving the Child, Building the Nation and To Save the Nation’, and charged participants on the successful pathways for academic success.

The event which was held by the organisers last Tuesday at the school premises Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State focused on several social vices including Drug Abuse, Cultism as well as protection of the future of students, molding of Character, Integrity and Responsible Citizenship.

Other issues emphasized were the negative impact of peer pressure, social media and the choices that shape the future, and the pathways for building the future through academic excellence and why students should place Jesus Christ over and above peers group influence, as an antidote for securing a perfect future in life.

In her address, the Principal of the institution, Mrs. Egwero B.O called for a strong and sustainable relationship with members of the Alumni Association and other stakeholders.

She noted that open communication, mutual understanding, and shared vision can sustain and take the institution to a higher level of growth, development and better academic performance.

Dr. Eloho Oziwele speaking on building your future through academic excellence, urged the students to grow beyond the mentality of securing good grades to developing a deep understanding, critical thinking and constructed intellectual efforts.

She added that it is not just memorising what is taught but should be focused, determined, and to have vision and honesty.

CSP Temi Agbede Zuokimor, Comr. Ramzy Eyube and others who spoke separately also  urged the students to run away from drug abuse, cultism, bad friends and wrong use of the social media as they can kill destiny, destroy the brain and cut life short.

“You are not meant to be destroyed. You are the leaders of tomorrow; governors, commissioners, and great entrepreneurs of tomorrow”, they said.

The speakers urged the students to be careful about the digital world as what is posted and engaged across the digital platforms is a direct mirror of the individual character, adding that students should be responsible in the classroom, community and online as passive spectators of Nigeria future.

The highpoint of the event was cultural dances, recitations by the students and cash gifts to the students by members of the interim management committee of the St. Michael’s College Oleh Alumni Association.

Resource persons drawn from various fields of endeavour that presented keynote addresses include; CSP Temi Agbede Zuokimor (PHD), National Coordinator, Police Community Safety Advocacy, Chief Mrs. Evelyn Aluta (PHD), Mrs. Egwero B.O. the principal, St. Michael’s College Oleh, Dr. Eloho Patience Oziwele.
Others are Pastor Mano Ohoriemu, Engr. Owigho Omuabor, Mr. Obah Sylva and Mr. Ramzy Ayube, chairman of the interim management committee of the St. Michael’s College Oleh Alumni Association.
