Preparatory towards the forthcoming general elections, the Assistant Electoral Officer (AEO) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Ozoro, Mr Emmanuel Otuavwoga, has made a clarion call on members of the public to visit the commission’s office to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Otuavwoga made the call during an interview with our correspondent earlier this week in Ozoro, saying that INEC had made efforts to ensure that eligible voters who had registered for their PVCs could collect them at the commission’s offices across all 25 local government areas of Delta State, including Isoko North.
He stated that the collection exercise takes place daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding weekends, as part of preparations for future elections.
The AEO during the chat encouraged eligible voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to take advantage of the exercise by visiting their respective INEC offices during the designated hours.
He emphasised that the PVC remains an essential requirement for eligible Nigerians to exercise their voting rights, as it enables them to participate in choosing their preferred candidates and strengthening the country’s democratic process.
He further disclosed that INEC promotes peaceful elections through stakeholder meetings and by encouraging religious and traditional leaders to educate members of the public on the importance of maintaining peace before, during and after elections.
Otuavwoga also advised young people to participate actively in the electoral process to enable them to choose leaders of their choice.
