ISOKO-NATION PROGRESSIVE LIKE-MINDS (INPLM) UNDERSCORE THE GOOD WORKS OF DELTA STATE GOVERNOR, HIS EXCELLENCY, RT. HON.SHERIFF OBOREVWORI.

In recent months, there has been an increasing wave of commendations for the leadership of the Executive Governor of Delta State, especially from the Isoko-Nation Progressive Like-Minds (INPLM).

A group known for its forward-thinking, INPLM has been keenly observing the strides made by the governor in various sectors of the state’s development. This article highlights the reasons behind INPLM’s support and how the governor’s efforts have positively impacted the region.
A VISION FOR PROGRESS
One of the core reasons the Isoko-Nation Progressive Like-Minds have shown great appreciation for the Governor’s leadership is his clear vision for the future of Delta State. The Governor’s agenda for socio-economic growth has been widely inclusive, seeking to uplift all communities, including Isoko, which is often considered an underserved region in the state.
Under the Governor’s administration, there has been a consistent push to address infrastructural deficits, improve education, and create more job opportunities for the youth. This commitment has been especially evident in Isoko, where key infrastructural projects are being carried out, from roads to schools, providing more opportunities for locals to thrive.
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
One of the highlights of the Governor’s tenure has been the focus on infrastructural development. Isoko-Nation, which consists of several ethnic groups within Delta State, has long struggled with poor roads and other basic infrastructure. However, the executive governor has prioritised the construction of roads, drainage systems, and bridges, connecting rural areas to the state’s commercial hubs. This has drastically reduced transportation difficulties for Isoko residents and has opened up the region for further economic activities.
In particular, the construction of major roads such as the Ozoro axis of Asaba/Ughelli, amongst other roads within Isoko has made it easier for businesses to flourish. The improved road network has facilitated the transportation of agricultural goods, a vital industry for Isoko-Nation, to urban centers across the state and beyond.
EMPOWERING THE YOUTH
Another major area where INPLM has shown support is the Governor’s effort to provide empowerment programmes, particularly for the youth. The INPLM has recognised the Governor’s initiatives such as the Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Programme, which aims to equip young people with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.

For the Isoko youth, the Governor’s support for vocational training centers, startups, and skill development initiatives is highly commendable. These programmmes have not only reduced unemployment but also fostered innovation and entrepreneurship within the Isoko-Nation. Many young Isoko residents are now able to gain financial independence through small businesses and skilled professions; thanks to these progressive initiatives.

HEALTH CARE AND EDUCATION REFORMS

The Governor has also made significant strides in the areas of healthcare and education, sectors that the Isoko-Nation Progressive Like-Minds hold dear. Health facilities in Isoko communities have been upgraded, with better equipment and more accessible healthcare services. The Governor has facilitated the construction of new primary healthcare centers, while also ensuring the continuous training of healthcare personnel across the Isoko Nation.
In education, the Governor’s administration has continued to improve school infrastructure, especially in Isoko areas where schools had suffered from neglect in the past. New classrooms, as well as modern teaching tools, have been introduced in schools across Isoko-Nation. This investment in human capital ensures that the future generation in the region will be well-equipped for the challenges ahead.
ECONOMIC GROWTH AND SOCIAL INCLUSION
The INPLM recognises the efforts of the Governor in fostering a climate of economic growth and social inclusion. Under the Governor’s leadership, Delta State has seen economic diversification, with a strong focus on agriculture, industry, and small-scale businesses. The Isoko-Nation, being predominantly agrarian, has particularly benefited from agricultural policies aimed at increasing food production and improving access to agricultural markets.
Furthermore, The Isoko-Nation Progressive Like-Minds (INPLM) commends the Governor’s focus on inclusivity, ensuring that all ethnic groups, including Isoko, are given a voice in the decision-making process. This inclusivity has led to a stronger sense of communal living and cohesion among the people of Isoko-Nation, as they feel their concerns are being heard and addressed.
In conclusion, the Isoko-Nation Progressive Like-Minds (INPLM) has been vocal in its appreciation of the transformative works of the Executive Governor of Delta State. From infrastructural development to youth empowerment, healthcare, education, and economic growth, the Governor’s initiatives have brought tangible benefits to Isoko-Nation and the state as a whole. The progress made under his leadership continues to inspire hope and optimism in the people, especially those from the Isoko region, who now see a brighter future ahead.

As the Governor’s tenure progresses, INPLM remains committed to supporting his vision, confident that his policies will lead to even greater development for Delta State, particularly the Isoko-Nation.

DELTA STATE GOVERNOR’S AIDE ACCUSED OF MISREPRESENTING SENATOR OMO-AGEGE’S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

In a strongly worded press statement released on January 1, 2025, the New Delta Coalition has condemned what it describes as a deliberate misrepresentation of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s Christmas message. The alleged misrepresentation, attributed to Festus Ahon, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, has been labeled as a concerning act of misinformation.

The coalition accused Ahon, operating under the pseudonym Alaowei Okoronwanta, of distorting Senator Omo-Agege’s message to undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies. According to the statement, the former Deputy President of the Senate’s original message was a balanced call for unity, hope, and support for economic reforms initiated by the federal government.

“Senator Omo-Agege’s Christmas message highlighted Nigeria’s challenges while emphasizing the importance of reforms for long-term growth. It was reflective of his commitment to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the well-being of Nigerians,” the coalition noted.

In contrast, the statement described the fabricated narrative attributed to Senator Omo-Agege as a “demonic effort” by Governor Oborevwori’s administration to mask its true stance on federal policies. The coalition questioned the sincerity of the governor’s public declarations of support for President Tinubu’s administration, citing inconsistencies in his actions and those of his aides.

“It’s the classic voice of Jacob and hand of Esau,” the statement declared, accusing the Delta State government of playing political games and sponsoring misleading propaganda to undermine the federal government.

The coalition called on Festus Ahon and the Delta State government to cease unethical practices and uphold the principles of truth and integrity. It also urged the public to disregard the false narrative and focus on Senator Omo-Agege’s original, constructive message.

Signed by Godwin Anaughe on behalf of the New Delta Coalition, the statement concluded with a call for transparency and alignment between the Delta State government’s actions and its public declarations of support for federal policies.

CONDEMNING THE MISREPRESENTATION OF SENATOR OVIE OMO-AGEGE’S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

We strongly condemn the blatant misrepresentation of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s Christmas message by Alaowei Okoronwanta, an alias used by Festus Ahon, as a disturbing act of misinformation. Investigations revealed that Festus Ahon, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, was behind this false narrative. This is particularly concerning, given Ahon’s role as the official spokesman for the Governor.

Ahon’s attempt to misrepresent Senator Omo-Agege’s Christmas message is an evil or demonic effort to ascribe to Omo-Agege what Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his administration actually think about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies.
Senator Omo-Agege’s original message was a call to unity, hope, and support for the federal government’s economic reforms. His message acknowledged Nigeria’s challenges while highlighting the necessity of reforms for long-term growth and prosperity.
The former Deputy President of the Senate’s message was balanced, thoughtful, and reflective of his commitment to President Tinubu’s administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the well-being of Nigerians.
In contrast, the fabricated story attributed to Alaowei Okoronwanta is a gross misrepresentation of Senator Omo-Agege’s views by the Delta State government.
Governor Oborevwori’s public declarations of support for President Tinubu’s administration are therefore questionable, considering his aide’s public criticism of the president’s policies. It is classic voice of Jacob and hand of Esau.
Furthermore, the Delta state government’s sponsorship of misleading stories and propaganda to undermine the Federal Government only adds to the confusion. It is essential for the government to promote truthful and accurate information, rather than spreading misinformation and propaganda.
This inconsistency raises serious concerns about the Delta State government’s true stance on the President’s reform agenda and questions not only the governor’s sincerity and character but also underscores the need for clarity on his position regarding federal government policies.
Governor Oborevwori is only playing political games with the President, as his actions and those of his aides and commissioners do not align with his statements of support. Mere public declarations of support are insufficient; tangible actions and policies must substantiate such assertions. Unfortunately, the Governor’s track record suggests the opposite.
We urge the public to disregard the misleading story and instead, focus on Senator Omo-Agege’s original message. Furthermore, Festus Ahon and the Delta State government must avoid unethical practices, uphold the truth, and maintain the highest standards of integrity demanded of public office.

UKODHIKO RAISING EDUCATIONAL BAR IN ISOKO

UKODHIKO RAISING EDUCATIONAL BAR IN ISOKO

By Kelvin Ohoror

For any nation to be great and transformed, the youths who are seen as the leaders of tomorrow must have  sound education and developed mindset. One major means to achieving this is via education, where appropriate competences, skills and abilities are developed, horned and tested.

The member representing Isoko North and Isoko South Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Ajiroghene Ukodhiko recognises the need to empower the young ones in Isoko Federal Constituency and enhance their education, provide them with tools and resources to aid their study life by preparing them through Jamb lectures, enrolling them for the exams and awarding the best students scholarships for tertiary education.

Hon. Ukodhiko has continued to promote academic excellence in Isoko Federal Constituency through scholarships and support to indigent students to higher institutions and for excellence both in character and academics.

He is committed to youth educational empowerment for better leadership and national excellence with particular focus on the Isoko youths. He sees youth development via education as a process that prepares young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood through a coordinated, progressive series of activities and experiences which helps them to become socially, morally emotionally, physically and cognitively competent.

He believes in a new Isoko nation, where a breed of young people will be raised and nurtured via a mindset re-orientation and value system right from the grassroots of secondary schools to the tertiary institution, where they will be holistically developed in moral ethics and academic development.

In this regard, he sponsored (enrollment) of 400 students in the 2024 Joint Admission Matriculation Board Examination (JAMB). He also ensured there is free JAMB CBT based training for the 400 candidates who sat for the examination.

Continuing in his campaign promises to raise the educational bar in Isoko nation, he singlehandedly awarded full tuition scholarships to 10 students from Isoko North and South to study professional courses namely: Lucky Triumph – Civil Engineering, Etugbo Ann Omamuzo – Pharmacy, Amofagi Oghenolewhome – Medicine and Surgery, Oyovwe Emmanuel Eloghene – Medicine and Surgery, Ewhotera Joy Oghenokome, – Doctor of Pharmacy, Jombo Egbaoghene Favour – Pharmacy,  Abriku Iruoghene Victor – Software Engineering, Oniovosa Deborah – Medicine and Surgery, Oghenokome, Efiafia Oghenovie Ewomazino – Law and Okiroro Excel Onoraro – Computer Science, whose scores were the highest in the just concluded 2024 JAMB Examination. All will attend Madonna University, Elele campus.

Succinctly, in his legislative duty, he sponsored several educational bills including a Bill for an Act to establish the Federal University of Agriculture, Erawha-Owhe, Delta State, and for related Matters; a Bill for an Act to Establish College of Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition Olomoro, Delta State to provide Full-Time Courses, Teaching Instruction and Training in Technology, Applied Science, Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities and Management: and for Related Matters and a Bill for an Act to Provide for the Establishment of the Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery Owhelogbo, Delta State and for Related Matters.

He also sponsored a Bill for an Act to Amend the Federal Colleges of Education Act, Cap. F8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, to Provide for the Establishment of Federal of Education (Technical) Oleh, Isoko South, Delta State; a Bill for an Act to Amend the University Teaching Hospital (Reconstitution of Board e.t.c) Act No 10 1985 and for Related Matters, 2023 and A Bill for an Act to Establish the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology, to Provide for Globally Competitive for Environmentally Friendly Innovative Research and Development in the Processing and Conversion of Indigenous Raw Materials into Valuable Chemical and Petrochemicals Products for the Development of Chemical, Biological and Man-Made Fibre Technologies for Industrial Application in Nigeria and numerous other Bills.

However, the quest to achieve a seamless development of the youths to meet up with the educational standard and present challenges requires a concerted efforts of various stakeholders.

This is therefore a clarion call for stakeholders and key players in Isoko nation in the area of youth development/education to work to shift away from a deficit model of developing young people to a strength – or asset- based model which emphasizes on a more holistic approach that focuses on the strengths of youths than mere fixing the weakness.

OMO-AGEGE BLAMES ECONOMIC HARDSHIP ON TINUBU’S ADMINISTRATION

By Alaowei Okoronwanta

Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege spoke the truth when he decried the unbearable hardship foisted on Nigerians by the numbing economic policies of the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress APC.

Senator Omo-Agege in his 2024 Christmas message said: “We acknowledge that the recent reforms have caused hardship for many Nigerians, particularly with the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of the naira’s multiple exchange rates.”

This truth resonates well with the reality that has become the misfortune that has become the lot of Nigerians who daily pine away in economic distress. Nigerians today have had their life value reduced because of the actions of the APC Federal Government that removed subsidy on fuel without giving a deep thought to the action it was taking and the negative consequences of such on the well-being of Nigerians.

Nigerians recall with disappointment the sad turn of events on them since the Tinubu-led APC Federal Government came to power. And this disappointment is further exacerbated by the obvious uninspiring efforts being made without success to turn things around thus confirming the claims of the generality of well meaning Nigerians that the President Tinubu administration is clueless and incompetent to run the affairs of Nigeria.

Therefore, when Senator Omo-Agege saw the truth and declared it, he simply confirmed the cynicism, disappointment and dissatisfaction of Nigerians with a federal government that failed to consider the well-being of Nigerians, especially the negative implications that its policy initiatives would have on the people.
Today, the value of the Naira, Nigeria’s national currency is not worth the paper on which it is printed and Nigerians are provocatively hungry.
What Nigerians expected of the President Tinubu administration which the government appear not favourably disposed to do was to put an end to the importation of fuel by encouraging the Dangote Refinery with support and backing to make fuel available to Nigerians at low cost. But it appears that the government is more disposed and comfortable with selling crude oil to oversea buyers who now bring them in as refined products with high cost thus making life unbearable for the people. A government that is serious and disposed to the well-being of Nigeria and Nigerians would have in the first six months of assuming office taken valuable steps that will restore the country’s refineries to viable production.

This is why Omo-Agege’s lamentations about the plight of Nigerians in the face of the economic challenges they face because of the terrible policies of the President Tinubu-led APC Federal Government must be understood as speaking the truth. His decrying and denunciation of the evil effects of the policies on the people resonates well.

What it means is that the reality of the devastating effect of the APC Federal Government’s policy on Nigerians can no longer be denied. Senator Omo-Agege now sees clearly, and his statement decrying the harsh effect of the Federal Government’s policies is very well acknowledged.

NON CREATION OF SOUTH SOUTH DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION AND THE UNACCEPTABLE INJUSTICE

By Eriques Warri

It is unacceptable to use the money of the Niger Delta to develop other regions with the South-South states excluded .

The  South-South, the only region where all the States are oil producing states with highest deposit of oil, yet it is the only region not considered for the creation of any “Development Commission”

The argument that South-South states are benefitting from NDDC is another hoax orchestrated to rip off the region .

We have the South East Development Commission that will cater for Abia and Imo States. Yet the the two states are still under NDDC.

We have the South West Development Commission that includes Ondo State yet Ondo is in NDDC.

At this point, We need a South South Development Commission different from NDDC in the spirit of equity and fairness.

Again, the South South states , South East states ( Abia state, Imo states) and South West ( Ondo state) all have equal stake in the NDDC, therefore whatever qualify Abia and Imo states to benefit from the South East Development Commission, gives Ondo state in South West to benefit from the South West Development Commission,  also qualify all the South South states to benefit from the creation of South South Development Commission

I find it difficult to accept the delay, exclusion and denial of the South South Development Commission or are we now a conquered people feeding other regions and getting impoverished.?
